Manic Monday

That is how I feel right about now - manic - well not really.  There is so much still left to do before Friday (when we move) -- so it is just hectic. Most importantly I got the cable set up so when we get there it will be on - yay -- I know not so important -- but when you have a 4.5 year old it kinda is!  And I am excited that we will finally have DVR -- woohoo - no more missing my episodes -- that is awesome.  Right now I am waiting for my mom to come over and help me with the odds and ends just so much to do in so little time really!

I did take a break and got some new flowers up in my Etsy store..like this flower

Oh and before I forget -- the cute yellow bag I got was from Kohl's -- I couldn't find it online - but that is where I got it!  thanks for making me feel like yellow wasn't an awful color to get - hehe!

I also had time -- or maybe I was trying to ignore all I had to do --to make this digital layout.  I didn't want to take an actual picture of what our house looks like because it is a MESS so just the boxes for now -- maybe when it is empty I will take a photo.

 

Well we have run out boxes so I think that is all for today - but I will definitely be packing a little bit each day --- so tiring - but THANK YOU mom for helping -- I really appreciate it.

*and for those of you that are scrappers -- I am so embarrassed by the amount of boxes that have the words scrapbooking written on them --- so scary how much stuff can be contained in one little corner --- I will come up with a final count when we move.

Today I totally lucked out and found a huge clock that I want to put up in the living room - yay!  I am also thinking of things that Ican do to dress up the bedroom -- since I got the new comforter I have been trying to figure out the exact look I am going for - so this really is the perfect time.

We will be getting Alyson a bed soon and after we choose one then we will choose more of her decor.  For now we will keep it simple - but I do have some cute ideas in mind and thankfully am jotting them doing so I don't forget them!

Ok - I do want to share a couple things with you --- first is the newest challenge going on at Noel Mignon - it is based on a Paul Frank ad - and I was really excited about it and I had a "vision" for the layout -- and then things went the absolute opposite way of my original plans.  But I still like the layout --- I used the beautiful Lovely Day kit for this.

 

This is a picture from Halloween of my mom and Alyson-- and it was fun to scrap it in non-typical Halloween colors.  I diduse a photoshop brush to go with the Paul Frank ad.

Ok -- so it seems that I forgot to post this -- so that is all I have for now -- have a wonderful Tuesday!

So it's Wednesday...

and I just finished a yummy Mc Donald's coffee --- mmmmmm.  I have been creating non-stop when I get home -- definitely relaxing and helps get my mind off of things - especially moving!  Eeek!  It will be here before you know it - and so will Spring Break which is especially nice!!  I have a few things to share (of course).

First, I had been shopping around for a new inexpensive purse for the Spring.  Something different than the black one I had been using.  Well I finally found one that I liked.  And it is yellow!  hehe - never thought I would have one - but it is oh so soft and big enough to carry everything but the kitchen sink in it - hehehe.

And of course a picture of some of the boxes that have already been packed.

 

And I will not show you anymore --- I would never be able to show my face to my friends again - haha!

Oh do any of you have any reccomendations for a new printer - I currently have an HP and love it - I print all my photos at home and it has to have the capability to print 8x10 pics - so if you have any recommendations I would really appreciate you dropping me a note!

Oh also does anyone sell stampin up products?  I need to purchase something and need someone to order from -- thanks!

ok on to my last thing before bed...my layout for the latest Mix It up Challenge.  This one was a color challenge and it asked for colors that I don't use that often - so this was a challenge that I was excited for -- you can take a look at the challenge here. 

And here is my layout...

  I used the fun pictures that I snapped while Alyson was wearing a costume - surprise surprise.  I decided to use selective coloring on these photos -- and there is a third picture here.  Right on top of the flower.  It is a close up that I took of the little feathers on the costume -- hehe!

Busy week

To say that this past week has been busy is quite the understatement.  Everyday brought about meetings, deadlines, classes or somewhere I needed to be.  I have so wanted to blog but have not found the time.  Even last night I had the page open and nada --- I was too tired.  But here I am FINALLY - ready to blog with some fun goodies.

I did want to thank my scrappy friends for their input for my scrapbooking class with the GATE kiddos.  They had a blast and I can't wait to "design" the class and see how much they grow.  Oh and special thanks to my colleague for "observing" the class - my special helper:)

I have also begun the dreaded job of packing - NOT fun!  But I do like all the purging I am able to do.  I have given a way more stuff in this last week than I could ever have imagined --makes room for more stuff right?  haha!

I also have been getting some things put in my Etsy store like this:

This one is an extra large bloom and I already sold out of 3 of them -- making more soon!  So hop on over!

And of course between packing - I have been popping into the March crop over at Treasured Scrapbooking.  We all chose famous women in history to use as inspiration on a layout.  I chose Anne Frank.  I will always remember reading her journal/diary entries and how important they were to todays history.  So since scrapbooking is really all about preserving those memories good or bad -- I decided that more than a one liner eplaining the pictures was in order.

I took a simple route and told the story about the shoes that I just bought Alyson.  She loves them by the way.

 

 

 

And then my favorite part of scrapping this weekend was being able to use this kit. It is the Lovely Day kit by Noel Mignon.  To me this kit screams SPRING!!  It is even more gorgeous in person!

 

 

 

I was also able to make this little card with the kit...

 

And really that is all that I have been up to.  I don't dare show you pictures of our house right now -- it is a MESS!  But I know soon enough we will be outa here!

Monday - Monday!

So - happy Monday!  Got me some Pinkberry this evening and it was YUUUMMMY!  ok - so Noel Mignon has a super fun challenge going on right now.  The entire challenge is based on this yummy piece:

Isn't that one gorgeous cake?  Yeah I thought so! 

At first I thought I would go the color route and be inspired by that.  But then as I was looking through some of my photos another idea came to mind.  I thought of making the layers of the cake with my photos.  This is what it came out like.

Do you see the layers?  I am sorry for the glare -- I obviously didn't notice until it was too late (or I was too lazy to take another photo).

But here is a close up:

 

And although they all look like the same picture - they aren't it is a series of photos I took of the girls --- I was tempted to turn one black and white but it just did not have the same "look" that I wanted!  So here you go!  It was definitely fun --- click here to see what the rest of the Design Team created!

And I want to share this little minibook I made with the Noel Mignon Nightingale kit -- I forgot to post it here.

 

You can't see the "S" here but the title is "Ruby Red Slippers" - all about Alyson's Halloween parade this past year.

 

 

 

 

 

What makes this little album a little easier to look through and hold is that it is attached at the bottom instead of the top (just a little tip).

ok - now I want to take some time and thank all of you for the very kind and warm words about my new Etsy shop -- it is exciting and just fun!  My first purchase is already in route to the person! yay!

I also got an awesome little note in my inbox saying that I was being featured on the Luvhandmade site -- how cool is that?  Not too bad for day 2 of my shop!

My little St. Patrick's Day buttons are what is being featured on the LH site!

I also made thes cute little butterflies...

All about Etsy

Okay so I love all things from Etsy -- there are so many talented people out there sharing their talents with others.  After much thought -- I decided to open my open Etsy shop called: Michelle's Embellishments (clever - I know).

I have made some fun emebllishments using crepe paper and pages from some of my old chick lit books.  And of course buttons!  I have also made these easy to use by adding an adhesive to the back of each piece.  Here is an example of what I have in my store.

This one is called Spring Carnival -- I am loving this color combo at the moment.

This one is Spring Splash -- doesn't it remind you of water?  I love the green and the blue together.

This one is called Spring Dress - it totally reminds me of the colors of an Easter dress, hence the name.

ok here is an especially great etsy find!

so I ordered this dress for Alyson for Easter and I just got it in the mail today --- yipee!  I am so excited -- it is so adorable! (fyi - this is not my photo - just a picture of the dress)  I bought it from this adorable Etsy shop --- Alyson loves it and it fits her prefectly!  Mike even commented on how nice it is. We never do anything fancy but I love buying her a fun spring dress for the day.  I must say that she was a little upset that the shoes didn't come with the dress - hehehe!

I will definitely shop here again - go check it out!

oh and this is not from Esty but I am really liking them and want to order Alyson some. (click on the picture)

Basically they are little boy shorts that cover underwear and I need these for Alyson -- I have such a hard time finding any that fit her  and these are just what I have been looking for -- we have some polka dots in our future!

And I am thinking of getting these:

 

They are Wallies Removeable chalkboard sheets.  I think they could be really cute with a fun frame around one or the kitchen and a few in Alyson's room for her to have fun with!

So next thing on our to do list is going shopping for a fridge -- - we cleaned out the garage and that felt good - we got rid of tons of things that we were holding on to --- but with so much stuff - there was no reason anymore.

We are planning on tackling Alyson's closet tomorrow which is full of stuff that needs to be given away.  So we will see -- I also get my hair cut - which will be nice -- my hair is getting long (well for me anyway). 

And before I go - I will leave you with a layout that I completed with Treasured Scrapbooking kit #2.

This one is funny - I don't think I got one clear picture of Alyson - she was determined to put that wig on and I was laughing too hard to focus! hehe - of course it made for a great layout!

Hello

Happy Wednesday to you all.  We have been busy, busy around here with no time to stop and breathe.  As I said in my last post we are moving and the papers have been signed and I am very excited.  I am NOT so excited about packing -- but I will finally be forced to get rid of a lot of things.  To go along with all that I will not have my own scrap space anymore.  We are trying to figure out a way --- but I will make do and I am sure I am due for some good Spring cleaning - which might lead you to be a lucky recipient of the loot --- so look for that!

hmm..I am trying to get ahead of all my scrappy assignments and get them done before we move.  I know things will be crazy until we get settled so not having to worry about assignments is best.

I will share a few pictures that I have edited lately.

This one is Alyson and her Grandma Penny - (the day she got her ears pierced)- and sorry Typepad is making this pic look funny it looks better in real life!

And these pictures are from tonight --- she LOVES to dress up and is finally starting to fit into some of my sisters dance costumes.  This one I believe is from Rockin' Robin? Right Melissa?

   see the ruffles?  Oh and notice her silver eyeshadow?  I am so proud at how well she applies it - she has come a long way since having a continuous streak across her nose to her other eye - hahah!

Haha -- she was bending over (towards me) when I took this -- she cracks me up!  She is so proud of her cartwheels --and she can't wait until her gymnastics recital -- except she told me I need to put her hair in a pony or a bun because evertime she does something she steps on her hair - awe -- never thought of that!

The more confindent she got with the cartwheels she started telling me how she was going to be in the olympics on tv and with no one helping her!  hehe -- so adorable!

An important day

So this past Sunday we went to Fashion Island in Newport Beach to celebrate my Mother in laws birthday --- the girls had a ton of fun doing Build a Bear (will show later) and riding the carosel -- but what came to a surprise to us all is that Alyson and Lauen (cousin) got their ears pierced.  It was so spur of the moment and Alyson wanted them done so badly -- even after I told her that it would be painful.  She didn't care -- she told me that she was brave.  So she did it and here are the pictures to prove it.

 

Here she is before sitting in the chair while the girl was preparing things.

 

Here she is looking at her -- still totally ready.

And here she is before the first hole.

 

And AFTER the first hole --- I felt so bad --- but I was thankful that she still wanted the other ear pierced.

 

And after --- look at her --- she was and IS still so proud of herself!  What a BIG girl.  I am so glad that we waited to let her decide when she wanted them done.  She is already planning the other earrings that she will be able to wear!  Huge moment in the Lanning family.

And coming up shortly we will be moving!  Yay!  I am so excited.  We will be in the school district I wanted Alyson in and hopefully will stay there for a bit.  I will take some pictures soon!

I am hosting this months sketch challenge over at Treasured Scrapbooking and this is the layout I made.  On Sunday I finally got my first taste of Pinkberry (even though we have one here by our house) and it was yummy!  A definite treat that I love -- thus this page and the sketch.

 

I also have another challenge going on there and it is about recycling your scrapbooking products. Yay!  If you want to learn more -- head on over.

I used Dream Street papers for this --- it is a soccer picture from this past fall.

Hello -

and Happy Tuesday!! I attempted to blog last night but it just didn't work.  But here I am with some extra time before work and blogging - talk about dedication at 5am!  haha!

So this past weekend was full of surprises and definitely one to remember.

On Saturday I received a call from Suzy from My Little Shoebox and I was asked to become a part of their awesome Design team!  Of course I said yes!  Their designs are right up my alley --- and I can't wait to start playing.  They also are still looking for MORE members to join the team -- click here for the call. 

And THANKS to all my friends that have offered congratulations -- it truly means a lot.

These pages were made with the March Treasured Scrapbooking kit #2 ---- the colors in the kit are beautiful!

 

With this layout I edited the pictures to look a little "old school" -- I think it totally goes with the pattern paper from Prima.

This next one is a picture of my niece.  Her lips are pretty rosey --- but with the action I used a little more so.

And funny story - while I was scrapbooking this -- Alyson got really upset about it and said that she was not my girl and that I should not be scrapping her --- I told her that she was family and that it is ok to scrapbook family --- she disagreed! ha!
